The GLEe model, which stands for Get Big, Lead, Expand, comes from former VP of Product at Netflix Gibson Biddle. This framework is intended to help product leaders think strategically and long-term about their company growth and evaluate which stage they are currently in.
Using Netflix we can see what the GLEe approach looks like in the real-world. Netflix originally got big on DVDs and mailing them directly to their customers. They then led streaming services when they pivoted from the DVD mail service to an online based viewing experience. The expansion comes as Netflix looks to grow it’s offering and service internationally into new markets.
